- Melbourne
Bass-Baritone Andrew Moran completed a Bachelor of Music at the
West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2003 and
subsequently enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Music (Opera
Studies) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where he sang Don
Alfonso in Cosi fan tutte.

- While
studying in Perth, Andrew made numerous appearances with the
Academy including Simone in Gianni Schicchi, Ottone in
L’incoronazione di Poppea, Olin Blitch in Floyd’s
Susannah, Frank Maurrant in Street Scene and Orfeo in
Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo. In 2001 he made his debut with West
Australian Opera as Count Almaviva in the schools production of
The Marriage of Figaro. Subsequently he sang the roles of
the Customs Official in La Bohème, Plumeaux in the world
premiere of Nostradamus, and the Maitre d’Hotel in The
Merry Widow, as well as being a chorus member in La
Boheme, Nostradamus, Il Trovatore, The Merry
Widow, Cavalleria Rusticana, I Pagliacci and
Opera in the Park.

this period he also became a regular guest soloist with St.
George’s Cathedral and the Giovanni Consort, where he sang
Messiah (Handel), Petite Messe Solenelle (Rossini),
Mass in C Minor (Mozart), Mass in A Major
and Christmas Oratorio (Bach), Five Mystical Songs
(Vaughan Williams), and the Requiems of Faure, Durufle,
Michael Haydn and Mozart.

- Andrew has
already gained considerable experience as a recitalist, having
performed for WA Lieder Society, the Giovanni Consort
(Schumann’s Dichterliebe), Alliance Francaise (Poulenc’s
La Bal Masque) as well as having recorded a recital for
the ABC Young Australia Series. He has also been the recipient
of numerous scholarships and in 2004 was a finalist in the Mathy
Awards, at the Australian Singing Competition where he was
awarded the Phoebe Patrick Award and the Goethe Institute Award.

- In 2005 he
returned to WA Opera to sing the role of Morales in Carmen.
Andrew was also the baritone soloist at Opera in the Vineyard,
Stanthorpe and in Israel in Egypt for Macquarie
University. In 2005 Andrew joined Opera Australia.

- In 2006 as
well as his performances with Opera Australia he also performed
the St. John Passion for Sydney Philharmonia.
