Christine Leaves

In 6th Class, Christine discovered the joy of singing when she was asked to sing solo in the Christmas Operetta at her final schools concert.   However, by the tender age of 13 she had developed a love of producing!

Christine became a professional singer/dancer as a nineteen year old, working in Perth TV. As a band singer, she held residencies at major hotels and then travelled around the WA countryside performing at farming balls and social events.   She returned to Sydney and fine-tuned her producing/directing skills studying with Brian Syron, Betty Williams (from NIDA), Sean Scully and Lynne Murphy. She also learned radio skills with Amber May Cecil.

When Christine was offered an excellent residency at the Sydney Hilton, she realised she needed some singing lessons.   She sought lessons with the best teacher at that time - Madame Mathy, and found her advice to be enormously beneficial.  Christine recently joined the Joan Sutherland Society, which led to the Australian Singing Competition reuniting her with Madame Mathy’s name.

Since a very young age, Christine has been passionate about showcasing, nurturing, encouraging and grooming young talent. She set up the Fish Music Awards and continues to own the Christian Rock Eisteddfod which she has been producing for the past nine years.

In collaborating with the Australian Singing Competition, Christine continues to pursue her objective in assisting young singers reach their true potential.
