After graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Elisa Wilson was invited to join the West Australian Opera as a cadet soprano, making her debut as Despina in Cosi fan Tutte. Other roles with that company have included the title role in The Merry Widow, Marguerite in Faust, Nanetta in Falstaff, Micaela in Carmen, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Gilda in Rigoletto, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, Norina in Don Pasquale, Adina in The Elixir of Love, Musetta in La Bohème, Nedda in Pagliacci, Clorinda in Cenerentola, Leila in The Pearl Fishers, Alice Ford in Falstaff and World Premieres, Nanette in The Eureka Stockade and Heloise in Heloise and Abelard.

Miss Wilson has also performed for the Victoria State Opera as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni and The Girl in The Emperor of Atlantis.  In conjunction with the Spoleto Festival in Melbourne, she also performed as Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos.  She made her debut with Opera Australia as Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream performing at the 1994 Edinburgh Festival; for that company, she has also repeated Helena in Sydney and was featured as Rosalinda in Fledermaus at the Sydney Opera House, and Musetta in the new production of La Bohème.

A regular soloist with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in a variety of concert programmes, recordings and recitals, Miss Wilson has also appeared with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Perth Light Opera, the Perth Oratorio Choir, the Australian Pops Orchestra, the Queensland Pops Orchestra, the Sydney University Musical Society, and the Vienna Male Voice Choir, as well as concerts for Opera Australia.  In 1992, she won the Armstrong-Marten opera award.

In 2005, Miss Wilson appeared as First Lady in WA Opera’s production of The Magic Flute and as Mrs Murrant in Singapore Lyric Opera’s production of Kurt Weill’s Street Scene.  She also stepped in at short notice to sing the role of Gretel in Opera Australia’s production of Hansel and Gretel under the baton of Maestro Richard Hickox.

In 2006, Elisa Wilson sang First Lady in Opera Australia’s new production of Die Zauberflöte, Frasquita in Carmen for the University of Otago, New Zealand and appeared in concert with The Queensland Orchestra and the Macao Orchestra (as part of the 20th International Macao Music Festival).  She also travelled to Tokyo and Osaka to perform the soprano solos in Handel’s Messiah and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio.  2007 will see her star as Musetta in La Bohème for West Australian Opera.
