Born in Perth, Jennifer Barrington graduated from the West Australian
Academy of Performing Arts in 2006 with an Advanced Diploma of
Performing Arts and a Bachelor of Arts (Performing Arts).
Jennifer joined the West Australian Opera Chorus in 2005 and became an
Emerging Artist with the company in 2007/2008. She also is a member of
their Opera and Education program and joined the 2007 OzOpera
tour of Carmen throughout Western Australia.
Jennifer made her professional stage debut this year as Papagena in
Die
Zauberflöte.
Other performances for West Australian Opera include Woglinde, Das
Rheingold; Marion, Picnic at Hanging Rock and scenes from
Rinaldo, Don Giovanni, Rigoletto, La Bohème, Die
Freischütz, Susannah and The Turn of the Screw. She
has also understudied the role of Berta, Il
barbiere di Siviglia.
In 2009 Jennifer will become a Young Artist with the WA
Opera and will perform the roles of Gianetta, L’elisir d’amore
and Barbarina, Le nozze di Figaro in addition to
understudying Adina, L’elisir d’amore and Leila,
Les pêcheurs de perles.
Other performing credits include: Jenny, Street Scene and Nella,
Gianni Schicchi (WAAPA). Concert appearances include featured
soloist with the WA Youth Orchestra in Music by Moonlight, soprano
soloist in The Messiah, and recitals for WA Lieder
Society, Goethe Society and Music Amica.
