Twenty five year old British born soprano Jessica Pratt has lived in Australia since 1991.  She studied voice at the Opera School of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music working with Maree Ryan and Sharolyn Kimmorley.   

In 2003 she was the winner of The Australian Singing Competition’s prestigious Marianne Mathy Scholarship.  In 2003 she also received the Nelly Apt Scholarship, Symphony Australia Young Vocalist Award, Foster Award (by audience vote) and the David Harper Award.  In both 2001 and 2003 she was placed in the top three of the New York Metropolitan Young Artist Study Award and in 2002 was selected to compete in the quarter finals of Placido Domingo's Operalia in Paris. 

She has been the recipient of scholarships to both national and international summer courses, including the Israel Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, where she performed in numerous scenes and operas and was selected to perform the role of the Countess in excerpts from Le Nozze di Figaro at the final Gala Concert with orchestra at the Tel Aviv Opera House.  Oratorio repertoire includes Bruckner's Mass in E Minor, Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Maria Theresa Mass, Mozart's Coronation Mass and Mozart's Requiem.  She has participated in master classes with Joan Dornemann, Yvonne Minton, Jonathan Summers, Sir Donald McIntyre and Dame Joan Sutherland. 

At the invitation of Maestro Gelmetti, Jessica Pratt has recently spent six months in Italy training with the Teatro del'Opera di Roma. During this time, she has also studied with Margaret Baker-Genovesi.  She will perform in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra's opening concerts of the 2005 season at the Sydney Opera House under Maestro Gelmetti.
