Nicole
began singing at a young age. In 2000 Nicole joined Gondwana Voices
children’s choir and performed at the Australia Day celebrations in
Darling Harbour and Choralfest in Brisbane. She was also chosen to
sing atop the Sydney Harbour Bridge for a New Year’s Day sunrise
special. It was during her time with Gondwana that Nicole discovered
a passion for classical music. She was a soloist at the 2003 State
School Spectacular Retrospect, held at Rod Laver Arena in
front of fifteen thousand people.

Nicole completed three years of her Bachelor of Music Degree at
Melbourne University then transferred in 2007 to complete a final
year at the Victorian College of the Arts. Whilst studying at
Melbourne University Nicole performed many roles including Pallas
in The Judgment of Paris, and Woman in
Somewhere before the End, a newly composed work. She was also
awarded the Clarice Maylon Middleton Prize.

Nicole was a multiple award winner while at the Victorian College of
the Arts. Her awards included the Alice Amy McDonald Trust, the
Sleath Lowrey Rotary Scholarship and the Marion Isobel Thomas estate
for the highest practical mark in the college.

During 2007 Nicole was chosen to perform at 3MBS Live at the
Convent, performed Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn lieder
with the Victorian College of the Arts Orchestra at the Melbourne
Town Hall and sang the title role in Suor Angelica, under the
baton of Opera Australia’s Stephen Mould. Nicole was a special guest
at Morning Melodies at Hamer Hall and a soloist at the 2008
Australia Day official Flag Raising ceremony. She also performed the
title role in Victorian Youth Opera’s Snow Queen in 2007 and
played the role of Mrs Noye in their production of Noye’s Fludde
in 2006.

Nicole was the Herald Sun Aria winner for 2007.

Nicole continues to study under the tutelage of Anna Connolly and
has worked with many coaches including Richard Bonynge, Dennis
O’Neill, Stephen Mould, Raymond Connell, Richard Gill and Simon
Kenway. She recently understudied the roles of Drusilla, Pallade and
Virtu in L’incoronazione di Poppea for Victorian Opera and is
currently covering the title role in Oz Opera’s tour of Madame
Butterfly.
