Sam Roberts-Smith

Beginning a Bachelor of Music Degree at Sydney Conservatorium, Sam continued his studies at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth, where he graduated with a Post Graduate Diploma of Music in 2008.

While at WAAPA, he performed roles in Street Scene, Candide, Angelique, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and sang the leading role of John Proctor in The Crucible. He performed in West Australian Opera’s world premiere of Batavia, sang the role of Gugliemo in Così fan tutte for Pacific Opera and is in the chorus of Opera Australia’s The Mikado for the 2009 Sydney season.

Sam has appeared in concert as a soloist with several Sydney Orchestras, as well as performing for Dame Joan Sutherland’s 80th Birthday Celebrations. He has been awarded several prizes in competitions and eisteddfods and has successfully auditioned to join Opera Australia Chorus full-time in 2010.
