The youngest of the year's competitors, Janette is a student of Northwestern University in the United States. She has participated in an Opera Arts training programme run by the San Francisco Opera. Keen to further her studies of voice and languages, she is looking for opportunities to study and gain performance experience.

Janette performed in Tokyo with other prizewinners at a special Gala Concert staged by Mr Handa in November, 1999, alongside professional Japanese singers and accompanists.

In 2000 Janette won her regional final for the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and will compete in the next round in New York.  She also starred in the Midwestern University production of Spiderwoman and in 2001 performed in La Rondine.

Competing in the Houston Grand Opera Concert Arias 2001 12th Annual Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers, Janette scored a rare achievement in being awarded both the Audience Choice Award and the judges' first place.  

In 2003 Janette was a finalist in the Heinz Rehfuss Singing Actor Competition in Chicago, USA.  She is now a Young Artist with Orlando Opera and performs the role of Blonde in Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio in 2004.
