Mathy Scholarship: $30,000 will be awarded to a contestant who is under
the age of 26 years on 23 June, 2008. The funds, to be used within five
years, enable the recipient to undertake or continue a program of study
and/or singing activity approved
by a Monitoring Committee. (See Rules & Conditions).
The winner of The Marianne Mathy Scholarship

ABC Classic FM Prize -
Studio recording
engagement for national transmission on ABC Classic FM. The winner has to make
his/her own arrangements with the local branch of ABC Classic FM in their home
state.

2MBS-FM Recording Engagement
- Studio recording with 2MBS-FM 102.5 to be broadcast on the Australian
Fine Music Network. The recipient must provide his/her own accompanist. The
recording will take place at a mutually suitable time. A tape of the

Music & Drama Award: Fees for one year's

Use of a piano valued at $12,000 for up to 2 years in the
recipient's own home. The piano will be delivered and tuned at the
cost of the donor and awarded to a Semi-Finalist who resides or can
reside in Sydney for the relevant period. This prize must be used
within 12 months of being awarded.

Scholarships and Prizes are reminded that the cash component is a form of
income. Any enquiries regarding tax should be referred to the Deputy
Commissioner of Taxation, an accountant or a registered tax consultant.
The Australian Singing
Competition acts as the Co-ordinator of the above prizes and opportunities and
cannot accept responsibility if a provider is unable to fulfil its obligations in any form.
If the recipient of
any Scholarship connected to funds elects not to proceed with that
Scholarship, the associated funds must be forfeited and may be made
available to another Finalist.
The Australian Singing
Competition takes no responsibility for the acceptance of scholarships which
involve overseas travel. This decision is taken solely at the discretion of the
recipient who should check the current status of the country in
question with the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs at the
time of travel.
