Bruce Elder

Director of the Board

Bruce Elder was appointed to the Geraldine Pascall Board in 2004. He had won the Pascall Prize in 1996 and had been a judge, and head of the judging panel, a number of times in the intervening eight years. Bruce graduated from Sydney University with an Arts Degree in 1968. Since then he has worked as a TAFE teacher – in both Sydney and Wollongong; been a professional consultant and trainer attached to Wollongong University; been on the Board of Lifeline South Coast since 1998 and been an Australia Day Ambassador since 1996.

He is currently a full time journalist with the Sydney Morning Herald specialising in music, popular culture, literature and travel. He is also the Director of Walkabout – the Australian Travel Guide which is part of the Fairfax Travel website.
