- WARREN FAHEY
AM has been collecting, broadcasting and performing Australian folklore and
bush songs for over 40 years. As one of Australia’s best-known folklorists
he has written over 15 books, produced hundreds of recordings and countless
radio programs. He established The Larrikins in 1968, and has performed his
unique repertoire at some of the world’s leading festivals including
representing Australia at the Commonwealth Arts Festival, Edinburgh, and
sixteen DFAT Cultural Exchange visits. He has been represented by Musica
Viva Australia for over 30 years. He established Folkways Music, Larrikin
Label and Undercover Music and spent 25 successful years in the music
industry. With Larrikin he produced annual major concerts for the Festival
of Sydney for ten years.

- In 2007 he
established the Sydney Folklife Festival (Incorporated) – a not-for-profit
association aimed at celebrating Sydney’s heritage, culture and people with
an annual festival to be launched in 2008.

- As a collector
of Australian folklore he has worked with the National Library of Australia
since 1971. His collection includes recordings with many notable Australians
from all walks of life. This work has been assisted with grants from the
Sidney Myer Foundation and the Sir Ian Potter Foundation.

- His most
recent field work has been to collect the folklore associated with the City
of Sydney, working under grants from the Music Board of the Australia
Council for the Arts and the City of Sydney Cultural Fund.

- In 2007 he was
artistic director for the ‘Year of Australia’ as part of the ten-day
InterCeltique Festival in Lorient, France.
