Patrick Gallagher AM
Patrick Gallagher was educated in England at Berkhamsted School and Durham University, where he took an honours degree in English. He commenced his publishing career with the UK firm of George Allen & Unwin, and in 1976 came to Australia to set up a branch of the company. Allen & Unwin grew steadily and in 1990 Patrick led a management buyout, whereby Allen & Unwin became an independent Australian owned company. Patrick is chairman and Publishing Director of Allen and Unwin, which publishes some 250 new books each year and represents several overseas publishers, making it the largest independent Publisher in Australia. |
